The FIH Hockey5s World Cup Oman 2024 starts on 24 January. With new contending countries and a configuration never connected with a World Cup up to this point, the occasion introduces another period for international hockey. The debut version of the Hockey5s World Cup will see support from across the globe with 16 men’s and 16 ladies’ groups, from across 5 mainlands, vieing for the title of the very first Hockey5s Title holders.
Muscat will give a pleasant scenery as the ladies’ opposition will start the procedures, beginning from 24 January, with the finals to be played on 27 January. The men’s opposition will start just subsequent to, beginning on 28 January, with the award matches scheduled for 31 January.
The groups were undeniably positioned into their separate pools during the draw function, hung on 3 September 2023:
Ladies:
Pool A: Fiji, Malaysia, Netherlands, Oman
Pool B: Australia, South Africa, Ukraine, Zambia
Pool C: India, Namibia, Poland, US
Pool D: New Zealand, Paraguay, Thailand, Uruguay
Men:
Pool A: Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland
Pool B: Egypt, India, Jamaica, Switzerland
Pool C: Australia, Kenya, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago
Pool D: Fiji, Malaysia, Oman, US
Toward the finish of the pool stage, the two top groups in each pool will continue to the quarterfinals and remain in the chase after the title of the very first Hockey5s Title holders.
The last two groups anyway will play for the new ‘Challenger Prize’ presented upon a drive from FIH President Tayyab Ikram, as an indication of consolation for all groups. With six countries playing their very first FIH World Cup – Fiji, Jamaica, Oman, Paraguay, Thailand, Zambia – , the extra flatware will save each of the 16 groups in the chase after progress, regardless of whether they can’t make it into the quarterfinals of the occasion.
The FIH Hockey5s World Cup will start on 24 January at 08:00 nearby time, as Australia take on Ukraine in the initial experience of the ladies’ opposition. There will be 15 more matches from the Ladies’ Reality Cup on first day of the season, as each of the 16 groups will play two of their pool matches on day 1.
